US liquefied natural gas exporter New Fortress Energy (NFE) has agreed to a long-term partnership with Mexico’s Pemex on a joint development of the deep-water Lakach natural gas field in the Gulf of Mexico.
As part of the agreement, New Fortress will complete seven wells in the Lakach field over a two-year period.
The company will also deploy a floating LNG unit with a maximum capacity of 1.4 million tonnes per annum to liquefy “the majority” of the produced natural gas, which will be exported.
