Historically its been used more so than NYC port of entry. From WW1, WW2 and so on…from Jewish families fleeing war to German families fleeing war. Czech war, Serb war, African, South America….never fails that the port of entry is Famous for those fleeing a war as an option to enter.
This is history and has been part of US history for decades, so regardless of one’s position on the political side. El Paso, Laredo and Brownsville have always been used by migrants and asylum seekers.
And so because these cities are some of the busiest port of entries. A certain party likes to use them for optics for whatever message they claim is ‘the issue’. Just like its being used this week, to do ‘random checks’ on Trucks over safety concerns. The Same percentage of issues that Canadian border sees, but yes…the issue is again in the South.
