Business process outsourcing has become a major industry and a top priority among SMEs and multinational businesses because of the multiple benefits it provides. See, aside from the obvious cost savings, outsourcing also gives companies access to superb talent from across the globe, without necessarily hiring them and flying them in from their respective countries. In addition, outsourcing also gives way to greater productivity, allowing companies to hire hundreds of workers that would simultaneously act on a particular business process, using a budget that’s usually spent for a mere team of twenty people within the business’ locality.
Now, over the last five years, a lot of Asian countries have shown prowess as BPO providers because of their affinity to technology, low exchange rate and manpower availability. India, China, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, for example, have stood out as the main power players of the BPO industry, collecting majority of the demand. This has not only created a substantial surge of employment opportunities in their own vicinity but also influenced a 180 degree transformation of their respective economic situations. But as outsourcing requirements grow higher, the competition has also broadened. Hence, a lot of other countries today have also started to hone their citizens as dedicated outsource staff.
Egypt is a country to look out for in terms of rendering outsourced services because of its pool of skilled programmers. Along with other Middle East and African countries – Jordan, Dubai, Israel, Tunisia and UAE – to name a few, Egypt is filled with talented engineers and IT personnel that could match up those being auctioned by top ranking BPO providers. Of course, aside from expertise, Egypt and Middle Eastern countries also boast of low labor costs, exposure to a number of cultures and languages and friendly investor incentives, which work great with outsourcing requirements.
And then there is Mexico, who is also fast becoming a star in outsourcing by virtue of its location and cheap but talented workforce. The same with other business process outsourcing countries, Mexico also serves as home to a lot of educated and technically smart individuals that are ideal for use in marketing and company support. They are also are more, or less, exposed to the same time zone, and can work alongside their contractors in answering business concerns.
Going over to Europe, Bulgaria is another one of those aspiring BPO providers that are currently making a mark in the industry. Yes, they may be a bit challenged on speaking English. However, by having congruent time zones as that of big European companies and an abundance of affordable human resources, Bulgaria is now in the running for the BPO top spot.
Regardless though of who is in and who is not, the question of where to outsource operation needs will remain dependent on the value system of enterprises. What they find most important – whether it’d be money, talent, familiarity, time, or affinity – will greatly influence their decision as to who they will refer to for their needs. Those who are interested must have to make good choices though since it is not that economical to go back and forth on the available outsourcing destinations and dedicated outsource staff.
